Scheduling and justification
Our show will feature several different sections in order to make it both fit into the codes and
onwards university, work and college students will be starting to wake up to begin their
day and they will be able to listen to this on the commute, whilst they get ready or both.
The radio show will finish at 10:00am and then switch to a different show which will be
hosted by different presenters 10:00am is a good time for this after 4 hours the
presenters will need a break and as people arrive at work and college they will
inevitably tune out anyway making this a good time for a change over.

Content
The content of our radio show will feature a talk show segment. This is because we are
creating a radio talk show. Our demographic target audience are 18-24 so the content within
our show should reflect that. That’s why we will be having a segment where we talk about
issues such as student life and the issues surrounding it. As our show will be aired in the
morning we will be incorporating these themes in a fun and interactive way by asking the
audience for their opinions on topics such as how to deal with a bad roommate or the worst
night out in uni. Linking this to the target audience it is appealing because this content is
relatable to them and they’d find it entertaining. To add, we will be playing local musicians
alongside famous artists such as the Arctic Monkeys. Sheffield is famous for its bands and by
having music that appreciates local talent will make students listen to it as they want to
support and listen to good local artists.

Jingles
The Jingles for the show must build the shows brand identity and include the shows
name and give a hint to the content of what is coming up to entice the listener in so
they will stay on and want to listen to the show. The bedding music and theme of the
radio show must also be upbeat and fitting with the theme and conventions of the show
i.e. indie or techno bedding track.

News section explanation:
While creating the news section of the SCC morning show it will be of vital importance that I select
stories that will be appropriate for the target audience that I am trying to reach. Below I have
inserted several examples of stories which I have decided that I would use in the show as t=well as
the reasons I thought would be of interest to them.
1) Artic Monkeys reunion:
The Artic Monkeys are an indie rock band from Sheffield and would likely reach the same target
audience that SCC radio attempts to reach. Therefore, the story of their long awaited 7th studio
album "Tranquillity base Hotel and Casino" would be of great interest to the people listening to the
SCC morning show.
From investigation I found the date that the new album was to be released (That being the 11th of
May 2018) as well as the fact that the band would be playing two dates in Sheffield in their
upcoming tour.
I decided that this would make a great story for the show as that it fits so accurately with the target
demographic as well as their associated interests so well.
2) Jarvin Blake's murder
The ongoing investigation of the stabbing of Sheffield father of three Jarvin Blake is another news
story which I feel that my target audience would be interested in hearing about as that It is a
situation which Is ongoing and one which shows the ongoing epidemic of knife crime in the UK
this year.
From investigation of this story on the websites of both the Sheffield Telegraph and The Star I
found that police were stating that they were confident in catching his killer and that they were
urging the public to come forward with any "Nuggets of information" that could help the put
together the full circumstances of the fathers tragic death.
3) Wakefield schools cleared:
On the BBC website I found a story about the Wakefield academies trust (an organization which up
until recently owned 21 more schools than it does now) one of the schools which belonged to this
family was Yewlands Academy Located in the Parsons Cross estate in Sheffield.
This story was of interest to me as that it was cleared of any wrongdoing after the police
investigated.
I feel that this type of story would be interesting to my Sheffield target audience would be
extremely interesting.
4) Drones Being used to crack down on south Yorkshire crime:
On the Stars official website I found a sorry about the trailing of drones in use of aiding the police
force in the Sheffield area at night. The fact that this story revolves around the idea of increased
surveillance as well as new technology and the police force makes me think that my target
demographic would find it very interesting.
When reporting news stories it is vital that nothing is inaccurate or untrue as that that could
potentially come under slander.
the ordering of the stories Is also very important as that it matters when it somes to matching the
codes and conventions of a real radio show as well as making an audience feel as if they are
watching a professional product when viewing the SCC morning show. I have decided to order the
stories as such.
Wakefield academy of schools
Jarvin Blake
Police Drones
Artic Monkeys
My reasoning for this was because many news stations like to have a story at the end of the news
section which is "on the lighter side." This helps the audience to start their day in a more cheerful
mood despite knowing about the potentially upsetting news stories which they have heard. I have
decided to do this within our show and in order to do this I have included the news of the new Artic
Monkeys album (something that the audience would likely be exited for in order to help them start
off their day in a good mood despite the stories that I have decided to broadcast.
My final consideration concerns the at in which the news section begins. In many news broadcasts
the section begins with several bulletins about what the days stories are. This is ,I feel, something
that we should defiantly do with The SCC morning Show's NEWS section. before the beginning of
the detailed reading of the news stories we will have mini bulletins separated by the sound of a
ringing grandfather clock (as that this is a common sound effect used for this reason)

Production
name:
Sheffield
City Radio
Episode #1
As can be seen from the key above different people from the group have added different sections from the script. It was Frazer's Job to sub edit and correct all of the different sections as well as to add the time codes.
I feel that this script will reach our audience appropriately as that the discussion section revolves around university life and the adverts also fit with the audience I am trying to reach.
